Ceramics, From Clay to Art

섹션 2. 제이 앤림 콜렉션(Jay & Lim Collection)

도자기는 화가들에게 새로운 도전의 영역이었다. 많은 한국의 화가들이 평편한 종이나 

캔버스가 아닌 흙으로 만든 입체 위에 그림을 그림으로써 회화의 새로운 표현을 시도했다. 

이들이 도자기에 그린 그림들은 '도화'라는 새로운 장르를 탄생시켰고, 하나의 예술로 

인정받기 시작했다. 이 섹션에서는 이정호 이사장과 한향림 관장이 신념을 갖고 30여 년간 

수집한 도화 작품들을 선보인다.

Section 2. Jay & Lim Collection

Ceramics were an area of new challenges for painters. Many Korean painters attempted 

new expressions of painting by drawing pictures on three-dimensional surfaces made of clay, 

instead of flat paper or canvases. The paintings drawn by them on ceramics gave birth to 

a new genre called 'ceramic painting, which began to be recognized as a form of art. 

This section shows works of ceramic painting which Chairman Jeongho Lee and Director 

Hyanglim Han diligently collected for about 30 years.
